Groups of the Alliance have signed onto the shared vision and have agreed to work together to promote its achievement by:

1. Developing NAEA as a network
2. Using NAEA for information sharing and exchange
3. Highlighting the unique characteristics of northern Australia and the need for policy approaches that reflect northern Australian conditions
4. Developing common positions and policies where appropriate
5. Coordinating our efforts to address the huge workload before us
6. Using NAEA as a referral point for other groups seeking information about northern Australian conservation issues
7. Using NAEA as a forum to identify and manage differences in policy and approaches
8. Encouraging other groups to support the NAEA vision
9. Using NAEA to support and amplify the voices of environment groups in the region
10. Making decisions about policy positions and communications case by case
11. Acting as ambassadors for NAEA and the NAEA vision
